Megatron8121 would then take the lead without pitting, trying to grab his 1st win and get some bonus points for the chase. That didn’t last long as JamieDobbs911 fought past him to take the lead. On a late restart, LupeG575 would reclaim the lead and continue on for his 4th win of the season. This will virtually propels him to the top of the standings as he will start the chase with a possible 3 point lead, or maybe even 6 with a win at New Hampshire.

Dobbs adds another for good Measure

The final race before the DrinkNOS Chase for the Cup was held at New Hampshire Speedway. A relatively low turnout made for the favorites to be highlighted even more.

LupeG575 would add another pole to his resume, and would lead a race high 48 laps. The race went by pretty uneventful up until the end, as Lupe held the lead as most would fight loose racecars.

With a GWC on tap , JamieDobbs911 would power past LupeG575 and pickup his league leading 5th win. All for not though as he only gets into the chase as a wildcard, eliminating all the possible bonus points which would have put him p1 in the standings. LupeG575 is the beneficiary as he will start the chase with a 3 point lead over Oddball1791, and a whopping 15 point lead over Megatron8121, Webbs6212, and JamieDobbs911.

The chase starts next Tuesday at Atlanta.

megatron8121 Grabs First Win in Chase Opener

The Chase for the DrinkNOS Cup would head to Atlanta for the first of five races. Eight drivers took the green flag with Swagger-Racing grabbing the pole after a tie with JamieDobbs911. It wouldn’t take long for JamieDobbs911 to grab the lead.

JamieDobbs911 would end up leading the most laps at 26, struggled on longer runs and would wind up having yellow flags fall wrong. A caution on lap 8 would give drivers the first chance to pit and only LupeG575 and Oddball1791 would pit. After the stops they were way faster and would jump out to over a 10 second lead on everyone else. On lap 26 Oddball1791 would have connection issues and would wind up 7th.

Only seven cautions would happen on the night allowing for mostly longer runs. This would fall right into LupeG575 and Megatron8121′s hands who were by far the best on longer runs. The early pit strategy would come back to bite Lupe as he would use his last set of goodyear tires on lap 45 and would be forced to run the final 20 laps on tires. Megatron8121 got a break with 10 laps to go as he would get fresh tires along with Chadrick32 and Collton.

The three of them wasted no time in getting to the front as Chadrick32 would lead the field with 5 to go. Megatron8121 then made his move past him and would hold on for his first career NTG CPR win. Chadrick32 crossed 2nd, with Collton 3rd. Dobbs and Lupe would both grab top 5′s, but letting wins slip away in the chase a top 5 doesn’t feel good.

Next week we are off to Bristol for some exciting short track action under the lights, With the top 3 in points separated by just 5 points. JamieDobbs911 sits 4th 10 behind, and Webbs6212 sits 16 behind after having a rough go at Atlanta.
