jamiedobbs911 Rebounds After Getting Turned Late
Race 2 of the 5 race chase was held at Bristol Motor Speedway. Eight drivers showed up to run one of the toughest tracks on the schedule. As expected a slowed down race pace would happen, and everyone would be involved in multiple wrecks.
Oddball1791 grabbed the pole but would lose the lead early to last weeks winner Megatron8121. Megatron would lead the majority of the first half of the race, but would then fade until the end. This gave way to JamieDobbs911, Swagger-Racing, LupeG575, and Oddball1791 whom all held the lead at some point in the race.
Mid race bad luck struck for chase contender Webbs6212 and Collton, who both encountered disconnects. Webbs now sits 21 points behind, and with 3 races left it’s an uphill battle. It’s not impossible though as winning a race usually equates to atleast a 5 point gain. Webbs will now be in win or wreck trying mode.
JamieDobbs911 would lead the most laps at 37 , but it wouldn’t come without hassle from LupeG575 who hounded him for the majority of those 37 laps. With just 5 laps to go it was LupeG575 who found himself out in the lead after Dobbs got turned , and LupeG575 was looking like he was on his way to victory until contact with the wall and Oddball1791 would end both of their chances.
This lined up Jamiedobbs911 in 1st and Megatron8121 2nd for the final Green White checkered. Dobbs got the big jump but Megatron8121 closed quickly. Into 3 they were nose to tail, with Megatron8121 laying his bumper onto JamieDobbs911. The attempt at a bump and run did not succeed though as JamieDobbs911 would capture his 6th win on the season and 1st of the chase. The win moved him to within 4 points of 1st.
The top 4 in points are now separated by just 6 points, with 3 races to go it’s sure to heat up even more!
Game, Set, Match?
Race 3 of the 5 race chase was held at Kentucky Speedway. Kentucky Speedway is home to CPR headquarters, which makes it a big race for all of the drivers.
JrFurr29 grabbed the pole in a sub effort for Oddball1791. Per rules, he was forced to drop a lap down but quicky received the lucky dog when a lap 1 spin by JamieDobbs911 would bail him out. The next 36 laps would go green as Megatron8121 grabbed the lead for the first 25 laps. Those 25 laps would end up being a race high. JrFurr29 would rally to take the lead during the run, but a caution would put him behind once again.
On the lap 37 caution, all drivers would hit pit road. JrFurr29 would lose the lead out of the pits to points leader LupeG575. Losing pitstops on pit road would be a common theme to JrFurr29 as it happened in his 2nd stop on lap 44, losing 3 spots on pit road. JamieDobbs911 gave LupeG the biggest run for his money , but decided to pit on the lap 47 caution to get fresh tires and make one last run at the top spot.
Tire wear didn’t seem to affect anyone though as no one who took tires would wind up making any time up. LupeG575 would hold on to win his 5th race of the season, and extend his points lead to 7 points with just 2 races remaining. With the low margin of points you can make up, A win at Watkins Glen could clinch the title for him.
