unpleasant circumstances, a subject that is not solely a school subject but a life lesson as well. The introduction of sex education in Armenian schools will prove worthy and will serve a greater purpose in the development of our younger generation. The world is progressing rapidly with the steady rise of technology and the internet is our main source of information, communication, entertainment, and so on. Due to this, children have access to so much content online, even content that is not meant for their youthful eyes, i.e. adult content. But the fact is that children are maturing relatively swifter than before, with the constant flow of information they can access with just a click on a keyboard. I have a cousin who’s six years old and he is the one who taught me how to operate YouTube on the TV with my smartphone. He borrows his mother’s smart phone every day, and connects it with the TV, after which he puts on some of his favorite cartoons and watches them on the big screen. Everything is incredibly easy to access, whether it’s cartoons or adult movies. So if children are exposed to any mature content, they at least need to have some understanding of what they’re being exposed to. Sex education can and will provide children with the basic understanding of sexual intercourse and sexual health, and it is much more reliable and better for children to learn these sorts of things from schools rather than from the internet, because schools are trusted to give children valid knowledge and information, whereas not everything that is found on the internet can be considered reliable. Anyone can post anything on the World Wide Web, and if a person lacks basic knowledge about sex, then they will be more prone to believe fallacious information. Basic knowledge about sex can have numerous benefits, as children will be more well-informed, which will make them more responsible adults. The older Armenian generation may argue that it is the parents’ responsibility to protect their children from such content, that technology is evil and children shouldn’t be exposed to iPhones or iPads from such an early age.
