HÁJSKE VODOPÁDY
HAJ WATERFALLS
Hájske vodopády are the most beautiful natural creation in Slovenský Kras. They are on the East of
Slovakia in Kosice region. They are in Hájska dolina (the Haj valley) near the road connecting
villages Háj and Hačava. This road was made by Italian soldiers in 1912. Hájska dolina is between
Zádielská and Jasovská planina.
In valley are many of rare animals and plants. You can see unusually butterflies or you can collect
strawberries, too.
Hájsky potok (the Haj creek – 14 kilometres long) is a river tributary of river Turňa. Hájsky potok is
in the area of Čertovský most, which is 10 metres long and 100-150 metres tall. Hájsky potok flows
through the valley makes, thanks to the difference in height 300 metres , waterfalls different size.
The largest and the most visited are:
Veľký Hájský vodopád ( It is the tallest waterfall of Hajské vodopády - 7 metres )
Horný Hájsky vodopád ( 5,3 metres )
Dolný Hájsky vodopád ( 5 metres )
Stredný Hájsky vodopád ( 4 metres )
Hájsky vodopád Veľký most ( 3,1 metres )
Hájsky vodopád Malý most ( 3 metres )
Hájsky vodopád Malý perej ( 2 metres)
Hájsky vodopádik ( 1,5 metres )
Hájske vodopády are not only part of nature but also part of human hands. In the past there
were travertine mines and quarries. The Travertine is use as building or facing rocks. Waterfalls
Hájsky vodopád Malý most and Hájsky vodopád Veľký most are human works, too.
In winter Hájske vodopády very often freeze and create ice walls and icicles. These days, there
are so beautiful works create by water and frost.
You should go through the forest alongside the creek, when you want to have best view. Noise
of waterfalls and the beauty of the East Slovakia nature make to your visit unforgettable
experience.
