Spanish speaking lesson
This subject is addressed to those students who will take up the oral
A-level exam in Spanish. They will have to give a three-minute
speech and then have a dialogue with another student for seven
minutes.
We had the chance to talk to them in Spanish and their oral
competence was quite good. One of the comments I found really
interesting was the importance given to the school’s open vision on
social issues, the mediation programme and the teachers’ attitude
towards the students. One of the students said: “ They do not judge
you, they really care about us”
English lesson 7A
The whole session was implemented by the English Language
Assistant. The activity was about reality shows, which are connected
to the teenagers’ reality. They had to design their own reality show
in teams but they had to do it in very short time, which was a pity as
the activity was quite motivating for them.
German lesson 1B
The most remarkable aspect of this session was how motivated and
concentrated the students were. The lesson plan included teacher-
centred and student-centred activities with a great timing to combine
teacher instructions, individual work and pair work. The classroom
management was excellent and the teacher strategies were varied
to make the students reflect on grammar rules and the main
characters in a tale. The students’ well-being was also a priority:
students were encouraged to drink water during the lesson and they
devoted short breaks to stretch and relax themselves once they
finished the activity.
Latin lesson
The activity of this lesson was to watch a documentary on Roman
culture and answer a multiple-choice questionnaire.
Teachers’ conference
It was a bit shocking they did not have a meeting room. The
conference took place in the teachers’ room, which was too small for
the 80 teachers.
