While working at Hale Kea, we lost our daughter Olivia.
Olivia was born with a medical condition that required a surgery when she was completing the 2nd grade. She died after the surgery. Losing our daughter, and only child caused me to rethink my career. I had been taking classes at UH Hilo to complete my teaching credential. After Olivia's death, I took the following year off to complete my credential and do my student teaching. The next year I began my educational career in Waimea, Hawaii.
Since that time I have amassed 24 years of experiences in: Waimea, Hawaii, Shungnak, Alaska above the Artic Circle, central Ohio, Cali, Colombia, Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic od the Congo, and Guatemala.
I have taught all levels, from kindergarten to adults, with the majority of his time in the classroom spent teaching middle school with a concentration in eduactional technology.
Lisa Lopresti, my wife is the love of my life. We met in Sunday School when she was five and I was six and started dating when she was fourteen. We will be married 45 years this year. We got married young and she continues to be my inspiration both as a person and an educator.
She retired two years ago and seems busier than ever providing professional development to teachers around the world related to TRIBES, Diferrentiation in the Classroom, Mentoring, and Drama in Education.
While a school administrator's time away from school is limited, when not working I try to maintain an active lifestyle, enjoying Tennis, Pilates Classes, Cooking, and reading. I also build wood fired mud ovens and especially like cooking bread and pizzas in them.
