STEVE HUPP
IAA Director
Everything I have ever done, every decision I have ever made has brought me to this moment in time, here in Guayaquil, to serve the students of Interamerican Academy.
I would like to introduce myself to the InterAmerican Academy community. I am Steve Hupp and I will be serving at the school director forward to making a positive contribution to this incredible community. I appreciate the opportunity to be here and be part of IAA family.
So then, a little about me.....
I did not come to education on a fast track. In fact, it took me almost 20 years and two previous careers to find my way to serving children in schools.
My first career was that of a farrier, a horseshoer. With a forge and anvil in the back of my pickup truck I went from stable to stable trimming hooves and fitting horses with new shoes. My career as a farrier helped pay for Lisa's (my wife) and my early university experiences in California.
Along the way I inadvertently merged into a career as a chef. I began as a breakfast cook at Pine Inn Hotel in Carmel California, and from there I won the job of finishing a hotel renovation at the Chancellor hotel on Union Square in San Francisco.
I moved on to Greenhills Country Club, and then Keystone Ski Resort. From there I kept on the move to Park City and then to Hawaii to work at he Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. Along the way I learned how to the historic designation. I finished my chef career at Hale Kea in Waimea on the Big Island where we converted the historic Rockefeller Estate into an upscale shopping area, event venue, and restaurant.
