AGRICULTURE SECTOR
During the year 2014-15, the ASAP Agriculture Sector offered a single course in Summer Skill Skool in sub sector Agriculture and Allied activities in the job role Diary Farm Management pertaining to qualification pack issued by Agriculture Sector Skill Council of India( ASCI).
Business Advisory Committee Meeting
Agriculture is a sector which plays an important role in our economy and culture, providing skilled labour and quality training. First BAC meeting of the sector was conducted on 14th September 2015 at the Symphony Hall, of Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of Dr. Reju M T IAS, CEO, ASAP. Shri. Ajith K, State Coordinator- HSS, ASAP, Programme Managers-Mrs. Asha A L, Mr. Raja, Ms. Lakshmi Priya and Mr. Paul V Mathew and invited BAC members constituted the discussion panel.
The committee suggested that courses must be branded and more and more job roles focusing on the core sector must be introduced along with the opinion that introduction of short-term courses in this sector will enhance the glamour of the sector among students. Discussing the job roles suitable in the Kerala context, BAC endorsed for Green Houses Fitter, Green House Technician, Landscape Technician( Gardener), Floriculturist( Open Cultivation), Floriculturist( Protected Cultivation), Organic Farming and Entrepreneurship, Dairy Farming and Entrepreneurship, Poultry Farm Supervisor( Broiler), Livestock Service Provider, Milking Technician, Aquaculture Supervisor, Aquaculture Field Assistant, and Certificate course in ornamental fish farming. Introduction of new techniques and modern agricultural practices in the syllabus were some of the major discussion points. As a follow up of BAC, ASAP has initiated steps to execute an agreement with the Kerala Agro Industries Corporation Ltd for three courses – Operation and maintenance of Agricultural machinery, Fruit processing and Modern practices in Agriculture suited to the industry demand in Kerala.
