Techno-economic analysis of solar photovoltaics ( PV ) and battery storage opportunities at Reagan National Airport
In 2022 , NREL completed a large scale “ Photovoltaics and Battery Storage ” analysis for Reagan National Airport . The analysis focused on summer electric peak demand reduction ; using summer renewable energy production , and energy storage to shift electric loads to non-peak periods ; the analysis identified such system is a feasible solution to improve Reagan National Airport ’ s energy efficiency and sustainability . With the recent Reagan National Airport expansion of Secure National Hall and Concourse E , the summer electric peak demand has increased .
