We actively encourage the reporting of any suspected violations through various channels , including an ethics hotline .
Human Trafficking Awareness
The Airports Authority is committed to combating human trafficking . We approach this issue by dedicating extensive efforts to educate , raise awareness , identify , prevent and eradicate human trafficking within our airports and beyond .
In 2023 , the Airports Authority began its collaboration with the U . S . Department of Homeland Security ' s ( DHS ) Blue Lightning Initiative . A key component of the DHS Blue Campaign , this initiative is spearheaded by the Department of Transportation and the U . S . Customs and Border Protection , a Department of Homeland Security component agency . This initiative focuses on training the aviation community to recognize potential traffickers and identify victims of human trafficking , empowering members of the airport community to report suspicions to federal law enforcement .
As of now , over 350,000 personnel within the aviation industry have undergone training through the initiative , resulting in the continuous reporting of actionable tips to law enforcement . The Airports Authority takes pride in being part of this initiative . We have disseminated information throughout our airports to aid passengers in identifying signs of human trafficking and to assist victims in locating resources for safety and assistance . This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to combating human trafficking and promoting a safer environment within our airports .
In January , the Airports Authority ’ s Police Department staff received training regarding human trafficking from Supervisory Special Agent Ryan LaBranche . LaBranche is the Human Trafficking Investigations coordinator for the Department of State ’ s Diplomatic Security Service .
This training included indicators of human trafficking , introduced the Diplomatic Security Service and its programs to combat human trafficking and provided reporting options . Officers also received guidance and training on techniques related to interviewing victims of human trafficking with a focus on trauma influenced victims .
