Russkie Posidelki Sunday, November 4, 2:00-4:00pm Our twist on the rural Slavic custom of posidelki is an opportunity to learn about various aspects of Russian culture while enjoying tea, treats, and engaging conversation. A different subject is explored each month. November’s topic: The opera Prince Igor composed by Alexander Borodin. Watch our website for future subjects. A Mini-Exhibition From the Vault: Winter Matryoshka September 13, 2018 - February 17, 2019 In keeping with the Soviet ornament exhibition this fall, a selection of nesting dolls from the Museum’s collection that celebrate Russian winter and the Christmas season will be displayed on the main floor. Some dolls in this exhibit tell the story of Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden Dolls who are said to bring joy and presents to children on New Year’s Eve. Other themes will include Santa Claus, nutcrackers, and the joyful activities of Russian winter.  Your Night at the Museum! At this time of changing seasons, what better way to celebrate than a party? And what more unforgettable venue than a museum? The Museum of Russian Icons offers art, architecture, and a one-night ticket to another time and place. From its stunning spiral staircase to its ambient, customizable lighting, the building’s design is assertively modern, featuring Bose speakers and a 12 foot projection screen in the auditorium, while remaining a historic, contemplative space dedicated to the art of the icon. Travel with the Museum to See the Treasures of Egypt March 6-18, 2019 In 2019, the Museum will once again partner with Collette Travel to offer a worldwide trip.
