COMPOSING TWEETS
1. Content a. Listen- Regularly monitor the comments about our company, brand, and products. b. Ask- Ask questions of your followers to glean valuable insights and show that you are listening. c. Respond- Respond to compliments and feedback in real time. d. Demonstrate wider leadership and know-how- Reference articles and links about the bigger picture as it relates to our business. e. Champion your stakeholders- Retweet and reply publicly to great tweets posted by our followers and customers. f. Establish the right voice- Twitter users tend to prefer a direct, genuine, and of course, a likable tone from our business, but think about our voice as you Tweet. How do you want your business to appear to the Twitter community?
2. Composition a. Readability- Grammar matters. i. Use full stops and commas. Put apostrophes in the right place. Use speech marks and parentheses. ii. Don’ t end every sentence with an exclamation mark. iii. It can help to read a tweet out loud before it is submitted. Are the pauses in the right place? We still need to breathe, even at 140 characters( or less). iv. Studies have shown that retweets contain more punctuation than normal tweets, even ignoring the colon that is automatically inserted by most Twitter clients( i. e., RT @). v. Always start with a capital letter vi. Always use a capital letter with each new sentence
