Our Treasurer Cindy Tilbrook has been investigating options for an Internet based membership database, and we have started considering other internet
based options for streamlining club administrative
processes
To proceed on this would require significant effort
and people with skills to be involved.
Planning and organising of our winter sailing season
program, class association visits and our club regatta
in June is underway.
In early March the Commodore, Vice Commodore,
Rear Commodore and Secretary met for an afternoon to review how the club should operate in
2014/15. A draft budget was tabled, discussed and
finalised. Revenue and costs are finely balanced. To
balance our operating revenue and costs, the club
needs to continue and do more in focussing on attracting and retaining members; conduct special
events including Regattas and Discover Sailing Experience type days; and manage costs.
The Club fees for our 2014/15 year were set at the
February committee meeting. A small increase in
membership and racking fees in line with inflation,
will be effective from the start of our new financial
year on 1 April.
At the flag officers meeting we also discussed committee and non-committee roles for 2014/15. The
next general committee will be appointed by the
club's membership at the Annual General Meeting
on Saturday 3 May. A chart with a broad outline of
roles will be posted on the upstairs club noticeboard
and on our club internet website by end March.
In the last two years we have operated with a number of vacancies for committee and non-committee
roles, which has added to the load of the core committee group.
We need some newer and longer standing members
to come forward and take on a committee or a non
committee role. Areas range from looking after club
merchandise, to management of website content, to
Junior/youth activities, Social activities, Training
and Sponsorship and promotion.

We also need an Assistant Minutes secretary for the
General Committee, If we share the load then the
work will not be onerous and the club will continue
to operate well. Please consider how you can help.
Nominate for a committee position and/or speak to a
club committee member about how you can assist in
the running of our club.
