Johnny Mac ’ s was another popular post-game hangout for local teens in the 1950s . Johnny Mac ’ s opened in 1948 in a building originally constructed for Lane ’ s Drive-In in 1947 . It was named for one of its three owners , Johnny MacLane . The drive-in was known for its carhop Service and “ Big Mac ” burgers , long before McDonald ’ s served their version . Although the drive-in closed decades ago , the building still stands today at 1313 West El Camino Real . It ’ s slated for demolition to make way for a new housing development that was approved by the city in August 2020 .

1957 football program advertisement for the Linda ’ s Drive-In , which was located on El Camino Real at Escuela Avenue from 1956 until 1985 . Based on this advertisement , its legendary “ Parisian ” burger was known as the “ French Deluxe ” during the drive-in ’ s early years . You can still get a Parisian Burger today at a few local restaurants .
