Erin also facilitated a panel discussion with key leaders in the military employment community. The panel included Meg O’Grady, Director of Spouse Education and Career Opportunities for the Department of Defense; Patti Wells, Employment Readiness Program Manager for the Department of the Army; Lieutenant Colonel Matt McCarville (Ret.), Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley; and Allison Higgins, Director of Membership and Marketing for the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations. The group fielded various questions from social media and the audience on employment, keeping finances in check, the future of employment programs, and how to handle various employment situations.
The primary mission of the AUSA is to represent every American Soldier by being the voice for all components of America’s Army, fostering public support of the Army’s role in national security, and providing professional education and information programs. The AUSA Family Readiness Directorate fulfills AUSA’s mission by providing programs where Army families can voice system-wide concerns, exhibit effective leadership, and increase resilience through education, information, and advocacy. AUSA has 125 chapters located worldwide. By joining AUSA, spouses have the opportunity to make their voices heard, get involved at the national and local level, mentor younger spouses, and network with area employers.
