Spring Fling attendees will once again be able to taste and select their favorite dishes from the Backyard BBQ contest competing teams at the Taster ’ s Choice Competition area organized by the Magnolia Civitan Club . “[ The Magnolia Civitan Club ] does so much to help us out . We couldn ’ t run the barbecue part [ of the festival ] if they didn ’ t do it ,” Johnson said .
One resident who showcased his barbecue cooking talents at last year ’ s Backyard BBQ Festival was Rocky Cisneros , the 2022 Grand Champion .
Cisneros , a Moultrie native and 2001 Colquitt County High School alumnus , said he has always had a passion for cooking that originates from growing up in the kitchen with his mom .
The owner of Premier Pools , a Moultrie pool service and maintenance business , Cisneros began his barbecue journey in 2018 and acquired his competitor name “ 319 Q .” He joined the Georgia BBQ Association Pro Circuit in 2020 . His favorite dish to cook is pork , specifically pulled pork .
He has competed in the Backyard BBQ Festival at Spring Fling for three years .
“ I enjoy it . It ’ s always a great event . Amy ’ s done a wonderful job with it by bringing in vendors for the actual Spring Fling aspect of it . She always coordinates a good downtown event ,” he said . Cisneros took home the Grand Champion title from the 2022 Backyard BBQ Festival where . 319 Q placed first in the ribs and Boston butts categories , second in the brisket category and third in the sauce category .
