Businesses grow in 2022 , look forward to the new year

Celebrating the new year often consists of reflection , planning our next steps and envisioning what awaits us in the upcoming year .

As they look back on 2022 , Tommie Beth Willis , the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce president , and Amy Johnson , the City of Moultrie ’ s Downtown Economic Development and Public Relations director , shine a light on what new businesses joined the county in 2022 and what is to come in 2023 .
A common theme for the county ’ s businesses in 2022 has been expansions and enhancements .
“ We are seeing growth in our community , and in all four corners of our county . We are seeing new businesses open up … expand , and some relocate to a larger location ,” Willis said .
Residents can look forward to visiting several new additions within the county ’ s food industry including Ellianos Coffee , Baba ’ s The Gathering Place , Dalton ’ s Downtown and Doerun ’ s Delicious Delights , a mobile ice cream truck . Longhorn Steakhouse and Tropical Smoothie , which will be located on North Veterans Parkway , are two franchises in progress to serve customers in 2023 .
“ Colquitt County is really the hub of Southwest Georgia . It is a quick drive 30 to 45 minutes to almost every surrounding county ,” Willis explained . “ That ’ s great when we ’ re having events , and when we ’ re having new businesses open , whether it ’ s restaurants , places to drink coffee , or even places to shop for just retail reasons .
