The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society was founded in the early 1980s. MCCHS is a 501-C3 non-profit that relies on community funding to pursue its mission of promoting responsible pet ownership and securing permanent homes for all adoptable animals.
The shelter operates as an open-admission shelter and contracts with local government to provide animal control services to Colquitt County and the five municipalities therein. It is licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and can shelter up to 80 animals at one time.
MCCHS has a working relationship with numerous rescue groups from Miami to Maine and all areas in between. It holds multiple adoption events and several fundraisers throughout the year to raise awareness for shelter animals.
The shelter is still available for people to complete their community service / volunteer hours from 8 a. m.- 5:30 p. m. Monday through Friday and 8 a. m.-noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Their new mission statement is to provide a quality sanctuary to improve the welfare of companion animals through community education, advocacy, and adoption of animals to forever homes. They would also like to remind you to adopt, not shop.

Navigating the foster care system can be challenging, and for children facing the daily uncertainties of foster care, life can feel disorienting. Never Lost is dedicated to providing stability, dignity, and guidance to children in this complex system. Our staff and volunteers create a strong network of support for both children and the adults navigating these situations. Since 1994, we have impacted the lives of over 4,000 children and young adults in Southwest Georgia. Never Lost is home to three key programs:
• CASA Kids Program – Court-appointed volunteers advocate for the best interests of children in foster care, ensuring their voices are heard in the judicial system.
• Compass Kids Program – Supports children placed with relatives or fictive kin instead of traditional foster care, providing resources to help families meet their needs.
• Positive Childhood Alliance South Georgia( formerly Prevent Child Abuse South Georgia) – Works to strengthen families and inspire action through education, awareness, and advocacy. Together, we are building a future where every child feels safe, supported, and Never Lost.
