Marc Marquez announced himself on the world stage with a World Championship in 2010 before stepping up to Moto2™ and overcoming early setbacks to claim the title in 2012. Promotion to MotoGP™ in 2013 delivered immediate history. Victory in his second race set the tone for a rookie World Championship, followed by a dominant title defence in 2014. After a difficult 2015, Marquez reset his approach and reclaimed the crown in 2016, then added further titles in 2017, 2018 and a near flawless 2019, sealing his eighth World Championship overall.
A serious injury in 2020 triggered a long and complex recovery, with repeated setbacks across subsequent seasons. A bold move to Ducati machinery in 2024 reignited his career. Race wins returned and momentum built rapidly. Joining the factory Ducati squad in 2025, Marquez delivered a commanding campaign with 11 victories and a seventh MotoGP™ World Championship. Despite injury ending his season early, Marquez enters 2026 firmly established as the benchmark once again.
