Rodeo lovers will have a blast at Man vs. Beast Rodeo in Little Falls
This year, the Man vs. Beast Rodeo in Little Falls is celebrating its 13th anniversary. What visitors and contestants can look forward to is a rodeo full of action, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13-14, at the Morrison County Fairgrounds in Little Falls.
Each year, JoJo Wagner, who hosts the annual event with her dad, Joe Varner, brings a main act. In the past, visitors have had the opportunity to watch champion trick rider and barrel man Dalton Morris, monkeys herding sheep while riding Border Collies and more. This year’ s main act is pro rodeo clown Dust The Jester Jenkina
“ Every year, we strive to make it better than the previous year’ s event. We couldn’ t do it without our amazing sponsors and spectators,” she said.“ If you haven’ t been to the Man vs. Beast, mark it in your calendar. It’ s like a rodeo like not other. Come early to get your seat and check out the amazing vendors.”
That the Man vs. Beast Rodeo is like no other rodeo is something the father-daughter team can back up. The rodeo as been named Rodeo of the Year by the Minnesota Rodeo Association eight times, she said.
The main performance begins at 4 p. m. on both days. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of events, such as bareback riding, breakaway roping, calf
roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, team roping, barrel racing, bull riding. mule riding and a wild pony race.
Besides the 120 or so contestants during the main performance, Wagner said the rodeo attracts an additional 300 or so contestants that compete from morning until the afternoon. Afterward is Mutton Busting an event in which about 100 children, weighing 50 pounds and under, ride a sheep. Whoever stays on the longest, wins the event. The Mutton Busting event will be held at 3:15 p. m. on both days.
Tickets will be sold on site and can be pre-purchased at Litke Veterinary Clinic in Pierz.
