Morrison County Fair, a fun annual tradition
The Morrison County Fair returns Thursday-Sunday, June 25- 28, with four days of music, food, competitions, carnival rides, livestock shows and family activities.
The fair will feature the Gopher State Carnival, with unlimited rides available for $ 30 per session. Sessions run from noon-5 p. m. and 5-10 p. m. each day. Food will be available throughout the fairgrounds, including in the 4-H Food Building.
Thursday begins with the 4-H dairy goat show at 8 a. m., followed by the open dairy goat show in the livestock arena. The 4-H poultry show will be held at 11 a. m. in the poultry and rabbit building arena.
The fair opens at noon with the carnival and an antique tractor display by the Greater Minnesota Two-Cylinder Club. Hillbilly Bob will appear at various times daily, and Sue’ s Country Sunshine Band and Variety Show will perform from 2:30-5:30 p. m. at the Beer Garden Stage.
Other Thursday events include the 4-H rabbit show at 4 p. m.; bingo from 6-10 p. m.; a truck pull at 6:30 p. m.; Emmy Sue’ s Ring of Dreams Adaptive Livestock Show; the animal dress-up contest at 8 p. m.; and a performance by IV Play from 7:30-10:30 p. m. at the Hubbard Radio Stage.
Friday begins with the 4-H llama and alpaca show at 8:30 a. m. by the horse arena and the 4-H sheep and meat goat show at 10 a. m. in the livestock show arena.
After the fair opens at noon, visitors can take part in the“ Smear” card tournament at 12:30 p. m. in the exhibit building. Bingo runs from 1-10 p. m. Mike Walker’ s“ Lasting Impressions” will be featured from 1-1:45 p. m. and again from 7-7:45 p. m. at the Spotlight Stage.
Other Friday events include the Lone Eagle Antique Auto Show from 2-7 p. m.; Sustainable Safari Wildlife Shows at 3 and 6 p. m. at the Little Stars Stage; the 4-H beef and swine show at 3 p. m.; Big Friendly from 3-6 p. m. at the Spotlight Stage; and the Sustainable Safari Alligator Show at 4:30 p. m.
The evening will bring music to the grandstand. Gates open at 6 p. m., followed by Gen-X at 7 p. m. The tribute band performs hits from the 1990s, including pop, rap, country, rock and alternative. Hairball takes the stage at 9 p. m. with its arena-rock tribute show featuring music by KISS, Van Halen and more.
Saturday’ s schedule begins with the 4-H and open class dairy cattle show in the livestock show arena and the Dual County Games Horse Show in the horse arena, both at 9 a. m. The fair opens at noon, along with CMA Minnow Races and the archery shoot.
Other Saturday events include a“ 500” card tournament at 12:30 p. m.; bingo from 1-10 p. m.; the truck and tractor pull at 2 p. m. at the grandstand; recognition of Century Farm recipients at 2:45 p. m.; the
Blue Ribbon 4-H Auction at 3 p. m.; Trivia Vanguard from 4-6 p. m. at the Spotlight Stage; 4-H premier showmanship at 6 p. m.; and Stone Road from 7:30-10:30 p. m. at the Spotlight Stage.
Sunday includes the 4-H Miniature Horse Show in the horse arena, an open class livestock show for sheep, goats and swine at 9 a. m., and the Raising a Farmer BBQ Contest from 11 a. m.-1 p. m.
The fair opens at noon, with carnival rides, CMA Minnow Races, the archery shoot, kids face painting until 4 p. m. and RC car racing until 5 p. m. Comedian and ventriloquist James Wedgwood will perform at noon, 2 p. m. and 4 p. m. at the Spotlight Stage.
Other Sunday events include autocross racing at 1 p. m. at the grandstand, the kids pedal tractor pull, Rural Arts Day, the United Way Ball Drop Fundraiser at 2 p. m. and the Sustainable Safari Wildlife Show at 3 p. m.
Daily attractions include the Morrison County Historical Society’ s Charles Lindbergh display, kids activities at the Ag Learning Center, Prairie Point Quilters demonstrations in the exhibit building, more than 50 indoor and outdoor vendors, and 4-H exhibits from 10 a. m.-10 p. m. The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association bear head and antler fair will be held Friday and Saturday.
