Program Staff
Matthew Reeves, PH.D., Directory of Archaeology
Dr. Reeves has been with the Foundation since 2000 and
oversees the overall archaeological research at James
Madison’s Montpelier. Over the past 2 decades, Dr.
Reeve’s research has focused on plantation life and Civil
War encampments with an overall focus on sites of the
African Diaspora (both pre- and post-emancipation).
Prior to Montpelier, he directed projects at Manassas
National Battlefield Park, Jefferson Patterson Park,
various New York DOT projects, and has worked on a
wide variety of historic and prehistoric sites in Maryland,
Virginia, New York and Jamaica.
Craig Jacobs, Salvagewrights Owner
Craig has three decades experience in restoration-grade
carpentry, salvaging of historic structures, and timber
smithing experience. He has taken part in carpentry
schools and led numerous public history programs. He
currently resides in Madison county with his wife, and is
the father of five adult daughters.
Jennifer Glass, M.A., Director of
Architecture and Historic Preservation
Jennifer Wilkoski Glass began her career at Montpelier
with the Department of Architectural Research, working
closely with the historians and craftspeople on the
restoration of Montpelier. In 2015, she led architectural
reconstructions in the South Yard. Her research interests
include 18th and early 19th-century Chesapeake
architecture, traditional building practices, and historic
preservation.
