Picture This
The Firestones’ living room is domi-
nated by an inviting leather couch that
brings to mind a beloved, well-worn
leather jacket. Resting on the table to
the left of the couch is a photo of The
Doors’ Jim Morrison taken by Rolling
Stone photographer Baron Wolman,
the father of Firestone’s friend and
Montclair resident Sarah Wolman.
Among the books on the coffee table
is a volume featuring the fashion
designs of Comme des Garcons,
reflecting Firestone’s current position
as executive director of brand sales for
InStyle Magazine. A finely detailed
hand rendering of the majestic trees in
the Firestones’ backyard (below) will
soon replace the placeholder tree
images from Ikea.
DETAILS, DETAILS The commissioned drawing is by Portland, Maine artist Aaron Staples,
whose work Firestone has admired during frequent visits to her family home. Close scrutiny
reveals forest creatures hiding among the leaves.
