2.0 Company Profile and Background
GroupMap is founded by Brad Ward and Jeremy Lu on year 2012. GroupMap is an
online real time idea sharing group meeting tool which is being used in the meetings,
workshops, conference, classroom and so forth. It allows the user to collect the ideas from
group of people by using the templates that the user can set (Curtin, 2014). This tool can help
to solve problems collaboratively while enabling people to work from virtual environments
on the same page of the templates. It allows true group collaboration as the removal of the
popularity bias.
The concept of GroupMap was developed when Ward and Lu recognised that there
are lacking a team planning tool that is simple, used templates and team brainstorming
without the participants fight over the same screen (OzAPP 2014). Therefore Brad and
Jeremy entered into the OzAPP Award in 2013 and eventually they won and entered into the
top 3 finalist in the Award (SBWire 2013). After the Awards, they started to commercialise
GroupMap and they received nomination to receive government sponsorship from the
Australian Government to attend the Gartner IT Symposium on October 2013 (SBWire
2013). Moreover, they also established partnerships with National bodies and Curtin
University (Augustine 2014).
