attitude towards work, which can be demonstrated through their attendance
and the initiative they take. Second is for them to be engaged in their work,
that is to have responsibility over the ‘establishment’/ activity that they
oversee. The last is for each staff member to engage with others and work as
a team.
Given the nature of the work at KidZania, staff members are also expected to
be well-versed when engaging guests. As such, they are regularly trained
how to approach guests, i.e. to listen actively, empathise, apologise for
assurance, and propose two options. In fact, such training information are
pasted on the doors in the toilet so that staff members can take in these
details in bite-size nuggets.
2.2.3 KidZania Resources and Facilities
Mainstream schools have invested in the teaching resources as well as
facilities to engage learners in their learning. For example, English
resources in Primary schools such as STELLAR guidelines, big books, small
readers and tuning-in songs for all books are provided for teachers to be
used in lessons. For Primary Mathematics, standard sets of manipulatives
are provided for all classes from P1 to P6 as well. The resources provided
are differentiated for different levels in school based on it appropriateness
for the level and topics to be taught. All schools are equipped with facilities
such as a performing hall, sports hall, science labs, a outdoor garden, music
room and art rooms to facilitate teaching and learning of the students. In
schools, the resources and facilities provided are to help teachers to make
