Finally, in KidZania, the Zupervisors can rotate at different establishments
while teachers in schools have to stay in the same department for many
years.
Staff Bonding and Welfare
In KidZania, in order to allow the Zupervisors to feel a greater sense of
success and commitment to their work, the trainers will take note of their
strengths and interests during induction and deploy them accordingly to the
establishments. This is similar to schools where during the interview by
MOE, teachers will be asked the subjects that they would like to teach and
they will be assessed based on their strengths in the subjects that they took
previously in schools or by their qualifications.
Another similarity is that, in KidZania, there is a supportive working
environment provided by the management. There are phones provided in all
the establishments and if the Zupervisors experience any issues, they will
report to the management immediately for support. The general manager
and the district leaders are constantly on the ground to lend support as well.
In schools, when teachers face issues in class, depending on the nature of the
issues, the teachers will either call up the relevant parties involved to resolve
the issues or refer the issues at a later date. The difference is that, key
personnel in schools are probably not as constantly on the ground as
compared to KidZania due to timetable constraints.
Lastly, similar to schools, KidZania will have their own bonding session at
the district level. They will have work lunch or breakfast as well.
Other staff welfare includes a $25-Islander card given to all staff, free lunch
provided in-house and staff pricing for food sold in the city. As compared to
schools, teachers have to pay full price for the canteen food.
