text here On a beautiful morning in Padcal, he gladly indulged conversation. with a light What motivated you to join Philex? I see it as a challenge to be able to contribute something to a respected institution like Philex. At the same time, I want to impart what I think is necessary—based on my experience— for Philex to regain its much-deserved status as one of the most admired and responsible mining organizations in the Philippines. What were your initial impressions? There are a lot of things to be done with regard to organizational development, optimization of our talents, and the necessary direction and priorities that we all need to work on for our company to reach its full potential. What are your expectations of our people and the organization? Philex is a long-standing institution. It already has developed its own culture. This culture is significant to its history, location, and the accumulated experiences of every member of the workforce and its community. I think it is very important for me to work within its culture, to use it to our advantage, and to bring out the best in everyone. We cannot separate the peculiarities of our members from our business objectives. This is integral to the company’s becoming world-class. You’ve mentioned “world class.” This is what the organization aims for. How do you see Philex three years from now? Philex should be able to show the world that it has gotten back on its feet. Philex is coming from a difficult experience that happened a couple of years back, and it will take time for the organization to regain its highly-regarded status. Three years from now, I see Philex being known once again as one of the admired and responsible mining organizations in the country. It will be able to prove that it has the organization, manpower, management, and focus to achieve and sustain this objective for a long, long time. Do you have a message to our people? Change is inevitable. Everyone needs to work together to bring about change. And change, as we all know, starts from within. We have to recognize the need to improve the way we do things. We have to work together to achieve a common goal. With the history and culture we share in Philex, positive change can be achieved.
