THREE
ASPECTS
The secrets to success. By Robert Shyver
Magazinein/January, 2012 3
Hello, my name is Robert Shyver. I work for MindMag, have two kids, a wife and a house. You may be thinking "well, that guy seems fairly well off. But of course I dind't start here. And that is why I'm writing this, to tell you how I made it. I was a failing highschool student, if I scored a B I had to convince my parents I hadn't cheated. I had few friends, and I wasn't athletic. The only thing I liked to do was read. And even with that I was behind my grade level. At the end of Grade 12 I didn't know where I was going to end up. My parents told me to talk with the guidence counseleur at school. He told me that what I was missing was a "growth mindset." I asked him how I would get one of these "growth mindsets." He told me to first work on my thoughts, he said to succed I needed to learn to think I could actually do it. He said the first thing weighing me down was my own mindset. He said that to move forward I would need a "never give up" attitude. He also told me I need to work on my Actions. He said instead of doing the bare minimum I would need to push myself beyond my limits. That when I fail, I should learn from that failure and use it to propel me forward. The last thing he told me was that I needed to Impact others, that I had to inspire them to do their best and to give them the gift of a growth mindset. He said that I ould know that I would have achived a growth mindset when I could see that I was changing the lives of others. That my friend is my "secret" to how I became succesful. aliquet non consectetur non,.
