Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes Guidelines
To receive in-state tuition , you must complete and submit the Florida Residency Declaration Form for Tuition Purposes with supporting documentation . https :// www . easternflorida . edu / admissions / accepted / residency . php

• Section 1009.21 ( 10 ), F . S ., grants in-state residency for tuition purposes to active duty military members , including their spouses and dependents , who reside in Florida or attend a public postsecondary institution within 50 miles of a military establishment at the time of acceptance to the institution . Active drilling members of the Florida National Guard are also granted in-state residency for tuition purposes .
For Veterans and dependents who are unable to establish Florida Residency , you can use the Veterans Tuition Waiver until you are eligible for Florida Residency . The Veterans Tuition Waiver is submitted after you have registered for classes .

May 25 , 2021 Update : Isakson and Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 - Post-9 / 11 GI Bill , Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty , and VR & E beneficiaries are no longer required to enroll at a public institution of higher learning within a threeyear period after leaving the service in order to benefit from in-state tuition and fees . The VA website will feature a database with information on any public institution ’ s requirements to receive in-state tuition . Effective Date : August 1 , 2021 .

1 . Honorably discharged veterans who will not be using educational assistance from the U . S . Department of Veterans Affairs ( VA ) will be expected to provide the following documentation to be eligible for this Veterans Tuition Waiver : o Proof of current residence in Florida . Examples of this documentation may include but is not limited to a Florida driver ’ s license or copy of a lease .
o Proof of honorable discharge . This information may be on the veteran ’ s DD214 ( member 4 copy ), discharge certificate , or VA Educational Benefits Statement or Educational Benefits Certificate of Eligibility . o Completed Veterans Tuition Waiver form . 2 . Individuals entitled to and who are using VA educational benefits and physically reside in Florida while enrolled in the institution will be expected to provide the following documentation to be eligible for this Veterans Tuition Waiver : o Submit a copy of your VA Educational Benefits Certificate of Eligibility ( COE ) or Purchase Order ( Ch 31 , Veterans Readiness & Employment ).
