ACHIEVEMENTS OF GERMAN MILITARY MISSION'S OF
1882-1895 IN OTTOMAN TURKEY
In the period of 1882-1895 the German military mission in Turkey
played a pivotal role in the formation of the German-Turkish allied relations.
During this period, the Turkish army was reformed by German experts, with
the help of the German officers and diplomats the Turkish army was armed
with German weapons. Germany has acquired the right to build the
important links of the Berlin-Baghdad railroad.
Due to these measures, the Turkish government became financially
dependent on the German Empire, thanks to which Germany acquired a
dominant position in the Middle East and gradually took steps to prepare for
the upcoming war. The mentioned Turkish-German rapprochement was also
beneficial for Abdul Hamid II for solving foreign and domestic political issues
and obtaining a powerful German ally.
