impending war against Russia to achieve victory. In this regard, Armenia was
allocated a special place. The greatest responsibility for the massacre and
deportation of Western Armenians fell on the military specialists of Germany. It
was not only because the supreme military leadership organized massacres and
expulsion of the Armenians, but also they took an active part in this. At the
beginning of the Turkish mobilization German instructors arrived in Erzrum
(Karin). The first result of their work was the the removal of Armenian soldiers
from the Turkish part, followed by collection of them for the convenience of
shooting in working battalions.
