“ Ayesha , The Maid of Kars ”, a novel written in 1841 by famous English writer , traveler and diplomat J . J . Morier , gives a clear picture of the domestic policy , the multicultural relationship and the religious problems of 19 th century Ottoman Turkey . While writing the novel , the author concentrated on religious issues . In order to address those issues he gave particular importance to those characters , which allow to reveal the relationship between the Christians and the Muslims through certain behavior or activities . He presented how often religion affected the fate and the social status of each and every character .
