AWARD-WINNING INNOVATION- METRO NORTH ABE AND ARCC RECOGNIZED AT ABE SUMMER INSTITUTE
Metro North ABE and Anoka-Ramsey Community College( ARCC) have partnered for years in developmental education courses, and they are early leaders in the co-rec model of math classes at ARCC. For the past year, the two institutions worked together in collegelevel gateway courses in mathematics, including Intro to Stats, Math for Liberal Arts, Quantitative Reasoning, and College Algebra. These classes are a unique effort to blend remedial math instruction, academic readiness and employability skills, and standard collegelevel content all in one concurrent experience for the students. The model seeks to reduce the amount of time and money that students would otherwise spend taking purely remedial classes so they can fast-track into their full college experience, increasing the likelihood of finishing their degree, certificate, or transfer to a 4-year institution.
Blaine
We’ re thrilled to announce some exciting updates at Blaine Adult Basic Education! We’ ve restructured our class offerings and added a new level to our Academic Skills program to better meet student needs. These changes are also part of our effort to reduce waiting lists. Even better, all of our classes are now located on the same floor of the building for a simpler, one-stop experience!

Brooklyn Center
The Brooklyn Center site has expanded its evening programming and added two new teacher positions this year. For the past number of years, we have offered shorter dual option classes for most levels( 1.5 hr online or in-person classes). Level one classes are only offered in-person. And, while we are continuing to offer the shorter dual options for the morning levels two and three, in the evening, we have full 3.25 hr classes for each level. We are excited to offer these expanded class times!
