album called 'Sell Out', is one that you have been teasing your fans with and it's getting alot of buzz. Can you tell us about the song?
John : I'll start with the music and then Kelly can talk about the lyrics. Musically I wanted to get away from what other people associate me with and show them I can really throw down. That songs was almost modeled after something from Volbeat and I was really feeling that and it came across so heavy and so mean, that when I gave it to Kelly he just loved it. We worked on it separately but when you hear it its like we worked on it together at the same time.
Kelly: One this is for sure, John LaCompt is one of the baddest song writers I have ever met when it comes to music.
John: AWWW!
Kelly: You know you are John. I mean if he had to, John could sit in a room and shit out songs like some people do turds.
John: (laughing)
Kelly: I'm talking beginning to end and not talking about just a guitar riff. Aside from being a great player, producer, and being involved in other projects, but enough about that. 'Sell Out' was the first song for us to release because in today's times, the older we get, it's hard for people to hold onto dreams and they feel like they are trapped in a fucking box. They feel they have to do everything that their neighbors do or what society tells them that they have to do. The whole part about following your dreams seems to fall by the wayside and I think that for at least everyone is this band, we have been
able to remember what we want to do in life or what makes us happy and we didn't sell out to other people in society that told us what we had to be. We are able to be good family members and good people in our communities, but we are still able to rock and still able to follow our dreams. I look around and see a lot of my friends kind of dead within their own skin. They are still dealing with the same shit and the same problems they where dealing with thirty years ago and nothing has changed. It's really a song about continuing to evolve as a person, and not selling yourself out just so you have a paycheck coming every week. We like to live on the edge a bit and that's kind of what that song is about and I really think it defines what the band is about. We thought it would be a great opening song to kick things off for us.
DDR: For each of you, which of the songs mean the most to you from the new album?
John: Hmmmm, wow thats a tough one, man. All of them are like my babies, like which one of my babies is my favorite. I have that conversation with my son on a daily basis, he asks why am I your favorite and I say "Cause your my motherfucker man!" (laughing) I dont know man, I like 'Remember When', it's really melodic and cool. It's bangin rock and roll, the whole record is, that's why its hard to choose just one. It's just straight up in your face rock and roll. It would be easier to pick my least favorite, but i am not going to do that cause I dont know what's going on with the record so far. I feel the strongest track on the album is "Use Your Love"
Kelly: When we come to Houston, we will be playing all the songs. Like John said, we love them all. That's what I think is cool about NoMara. A lot of these bands release albums that have one or two good songs and the rest you can't stand, but with NoMara, all of are songs are great, our fans love all of our songs, and each person has a favorite for a particualr reason.
DDR: When you go on tour, will you be playing music from the first album or will you be focusing on the new album specifically?
Kelly: I think we will be playing a lot of the new stuff, we are in the process of
