making those decisions with the set list and stuff. We want to put our best foot forward.
John: Style wise it would be difficult to throw in the songs off the first album with the new songs. My singer from my other group Machina, Phil Taylor, who is also the singer for Future Leaders Of The World, we co-wrote alot of the songs together for that first record. He has a lot more of the grunge beat, I mean he loves Seattle. If he even hears someone mention the word Seattle he just ejaculates. (laughing) You can hear it all over that stuff, that sound, he just has it down.
DDR: The sound of Seattle or Phil ejaculating?
John: Both, I think thats synonymous.(laughing) It's like I can hear what's going on here too, oh my god this is so freakin awesome. You dont really want to sprinkle that 'ok' stuff with total badassery. If someone starts chanting it maybe we will throw one out there. I just want to give this new stuff a real shot.
Kelly: Yeah, with this album, it is NoMara. We get asked a lot what our sound is. With the first album, we would say its kind of experimental, there is stuff all over the map. This new album is more defined and more what NoMara should sound like.
John: Its a lot like me working on different projects over the past ten years. I was definitely getting my feet wet. I was in the water but I wasn't deep enough. But now, I am totally immersed and I can jump into whatever.
Kelly: We started that first album days after he left Evanesence
John: Yeah , I was like, I need to get a client in the studio, I'm about to be broke(laughing)
DDR: We heard that you John are also working on another project 'Even Devils Die' with Rachel Peloquin.
John: Yeah, she is amazing, feel free to put that in the interview , we need to cross reference everything (laughing)
Kelly : Also on that new song, 'Sell Out', Marty from Bobaflex, he is a good friend of ours, he sings on that song, you can hear that Bobaflex feel in the chorus.
DDR: What can your fans expect from you with this new tour?
John: Expect a onslaught of metal and rock up in your face. (laughing) No man, people should expect to see a good rock band.
Kelly: (laughing)
John: When I was in Evanesence, I had alot of nicknames. Mr. Controversial and Outspoken was one because I would say some pretty messed up stuff during interviews. Amy did not want to let me do interviews as much, but no one else was any good at it, so I got to do them all the time. I would say some of the most heinous shit. I was the only person that would come alive on a camera. Reporters where like "So the new album and all that stuff and traveling around the world , tell us something about it?" Amy was like "It was cool!" and the others where like, ok, we need to fill up some space here, let's get John up here to talk. They would ask me "Whats your favorite thing?" I would say "It's the hookers and the blow man, it's all about the hookers and the blow man! All day and every day. Do you want to hear the truth or some radio bullshit? (laughing) Seriously, people should expect to see a good, professional rock band that is tight. It will come across very powerful and they need to come have a look at it.
DDR: What would you like to say to your fans that have been there from the start as well as fans reading about you for the fiirst time?
Kelly: First of all, I would like to say thank you for your support and patience for all the old fans. They have been keeping in touch with us over Facebook and asking what was going to happen next. To the new fans,my biggest thing is get out there and experience the music. This new music is fun, it's melodic, they can get away, they can sing along and not think "What did he say?"
John: Thats my biggest thing as well, you need to get out and experience it. I'm very cynical. People are missing the experience of everything right now because they are watching shows on YouTube and they are stealing music. You see a group of people in the arena and its a beautiful thing that they are there for the experience. Then you see twenty thousand cell phones come out. I'm thinking, why are you recording this, you're here now, why are you going to watch a little crappy video to prove to people that you were there? Put that crap away and just enjoy it, get in on it. I would say come to the show, enjoy rock and roll and make a memory. Thank you guys for following anything I do or whatever we do together. I appreciate anyone that has hung in there with me or wants to start hanging in there with me
