John: Yeah, but with the songs of the new album, you can see that Kelly has made a big transition. All the songs are like 'Use Your Love', it about getting a booty call. No more about this towing the line relationship stuff, now its all about booty booty booty! (laughing) That was actually going to be the name of the album.
DDR: So what you are telling me then John, is that fans can figure out Kelly's relationship by the tone and songs on the albums?
John: Exactly, you dont need to put a relationship status on Facebook, you just have to put the album title up there! (laughing)
Kelly: Hell, I cant even get a date anymore because girls are thinking this dude is going to write some record about me! (laughing)
JOHN: This dudes a creeper! (laughing)
DDR: Hearing now that alot of your songs have to do about relationships, going forward what direction to you see yourselves going as a band in the future?
John: I think the band just needs to be known for writing bad ass songs. I am in alot of different projects and this one is geared towards the active rock radio setting. I tend to make music very serious and I tend to get pretty deep with it. I feel this band for me needs to be seen as a active rock band, not to be taken ridiculously seriously, just having fun. There are some serious lyrics there that come from the heart, but actually a lot of it is tongue in cheek stuff that could be taken the wrong way. I want people to take it the wrong way, I want people to be shocked! There is one particular song on the album called 'Welcome To Me' and I think we may get some flack for it, but I can't wait to see!
DDR: With that being said, when will you be releasing the new album?
Kelly: Sometime in early 2015. We want to make sure the songs get a chance to be heard and they get their time in the light, putting out an entire record nowadays may not be the best way to do it. We kind of decided to release a song and a video at a time. For the most part, all the songs are done for the album. It's important for us to get out and play some live shows, get that new material out in front of some live crowds to get the feedback. You never know after playing the songs for a couple shows it may make us make a few changes.
DDR: With the last album coiming out in 2008, was there a reason for the lapse between the two albums?
Kelly: For me it was to take the time to regroup and come up with some really good songs. It was taking the time for the stars to line up in everyones schedule, John had a lot of different projects he was doing as well. No other reasons that that and not wanting to rush things and put something out because we thought we had to. We wanted to take the time to get the songs to be as good as we thought they could be and be able to get out and play some gigs together.
John: I think that time period was an educational period for everybody really. Kelly had some learning to do. He got out there and found out whats it's really like. There is some fucked up shit out there and you have to have players that are dedicated and not just get drunk everyday. It's like only one person is driving because only one person is sober. I understand the rock star life and you want to have fun, but there is a time and a place. You can't be successful in anything you do if you only invest yourself in the perks, man. You have to put things in perspective, play your songs, play them well, get your crap on the stage, get it off the stage pack it up, have your fun, but be ready to get to the next gig so you can get some sleep. Kelly saw it that it is tough, to keep a group of people together even when they are dedicated. Time will heal the wounds, but I feel this time around we have a pretty good set up.
DDR: One song in particular on this
