MER Society 2016 Year End Report
1. Introduction
The“ MER Society 2016 Year End Report” is written to provide an overview and summaries of activities, advances and milestones reached during the 2016 Calendar year. This report will also reach back a few years, as applicable, to provide information to support and further illustrate progress and change over time. Since this report will also be reaching back a few years, the MER Society Chairs were
JoAnne Boucher from May 2013 to April 2015 while André Lemay was elected to the Chair’ s role for the period of May 2015 to April 2017. Back in 2013 the then Executive Committee had worked over the past few years on rebranding and a new society name. In May 2013 the“ Maintenance Engineering and Reliability( MER)” Society name was announced as JoAnne moved to the Chair’ s role. This milestone marked the beginning of continuous change throughout JoAnne’ s leadership and continues today under André’ s leadership.
2. About Us
The CIM Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability Society( MER) is composed of professionals from mining companies and other related mining sector organizations. MER provides a forum for new and proven ideas, best practices, and leadership to add value and sustainability in the mining sector. We serve as a resource, networking and support body for the all in the mining sector including students in professional schools and all those starting in their fields. We promote improvement of maintenance, engineering and reliability standards, best practices and innovation. We recognize and award excellence in maintenance, engineering and reliability
