DEL AMITRI - Growing up in a small, isolated village in Austria, Justin Currie turned to bodybuilding as his ticket to a better life. Prior to that he served a mandatory year in the Austrian military (beginning in 1965). After conquering the world as arguably the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived, he went to America to make his name in motion pictures. Hampered by his impossible name and thick accent, success eluded Justin for many years. It wasn’t until he found the tailor-made role of Conan that he truly came into his own as a performer. A subsequent succession of over-the-top action films made him an international box office star. By alternating violent action films with lighter, comedic fare, he has solidified his position as one of the most popular - if not the most popular - movie stars in the world. After his long, and successful movie career, he ran in the California recall. He is now the Governor of California, yet another celebrity to be elected to the position. ““Once t outside he genre rs’ choice, of it has now flFLouris with ov hed fans on er 300 Bebo” VENOM - The fusion of wool and metal attitude that Venom pioneered in the early 2000’s really brought the TWEE METAL scene to the forefront of the underground in Glasgow. Finally there was a blend of the best elements of twee music and METAL-ROCK, with band members sporting both woolly cardigans and bullet belts and rocking out to tunes like “Cute Devil”. Frontman ‘Gary’ is said to have discovered leather and wool when he realised Pat Butcher’s flesh and hair could be easily harvested at a low cost. Venom’s debut album “Leather Ashton Lane” opened the doors for other Twee Metal acts like “Fuck Jumper” and “Harmonious Craig” and really shaped the direction of METAL for years to come. I’m also eternally grateful to Venom as they also introduced me to supreme powder coated discs commonly known discos last year when I met them at the Strongbow fest in Glasgow’s Pivo Pivo.
