Northwest Nazarene knocked the Clan out in the first round of the playoffs after splitting the season series. The two losses to the Crusaders this year were only SFU’s second and third losses to NNU in the last three seasons. Simon Fraser ranked near the top of every offensive category in the GNAC, including leading the conference in shots and goals. Senior Jovan Blagojevic was one of the top scoring threats in the nation. The Daktronics West Region Player of the Year scored 18 goals in 2014 and finished his career fifth on the GNAC’s all-time points list. Western Washington started the season the same way SPU ended it, with a loss to NCAA West Regional champion Cal State L.A. The Vikings finished nonconference play 2-2. WWU had a rough start to conference play. After tying Simon Fraser in the opener, the Vikings lost three straight. They followed this with a four game win streak, however, and eventually climbed into the NSCAA West Region Top 10. Tye Hastings had seven goals for the Vikings including three in their last three games. WWU finished the season 3-3 and were left out of the NCAA tournament, but were close as they were ranked eighth in the final NSCAA West Region poll. The senior-freshman combo of Tye Hastings and Luke Olney provided the Vikings with much of their offense, scoring a combined 11 of the teams 28 goals. These two finished the season seventh and eighth respectively in the GNAC in points. Defensively, goalkeeper Keegan Rogers recorded four shutouts in 2014, giving him 16 in his four year career and ranking second in the school’s history.
