Season Recap: In 2013, the Crusaders ended the year with a 5-7-5 record and finished in fourth place in the
GNAC. The coaches didn’t think they were much improved in the 2014 preseason poll, voting for the
Crusaders to finish fourth. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, NNU proved everyone wrong.
Northwest Nazarene finished the year 15-4-1. The 2014 Crusaders were the first men’s soccer team from
NNU to be ranked in the NSCAA coaches poll, earn an NCAA tournament berth and win a tournament game.
The Crusaders finished second in the conference by three
points and earned two victories each over Western
Washington and Simon Fraser while beating the GNAC
champions 1-0 towards the end of the regular season.
Northwest Nazarene improved on both sides of the ball and
ranked first in the conference in assists, points and shutouts.
Upperclassmen Freddy Razo and Erik Anderson ranked in the
top four in points, goals and game-winning goals in the
conference and goalie Alfredo E. Ontiveros topped the GNAC in saves and save percentage.
Fredy Razo led the team in goals in 2014 with 13.
The 2014 team recorded the most wins in program history and saw junior Julio Castillo earn NNU’s only first
team All-American honor in any sport.

Season Recap: For the first time in its conference history, Simon
Fraser did not win the GNAC championship. That didn’t mean
the Clan had a down year however.
After getting off to a slow start, going 3-3-2, the Clan won eight
of their last nine games and earned a five seed in the NCAA
tournament.
Jovan Blagojevic was a second team Daktronics
All-American and was seventh in the nation in
goals scored.
Simon Fraser’s five losses only came against three teams, and these three teams were seeded one, two and
four in the NCAA West Region.
