as crazy and humbling like sitting at home for months and not working. And this is the time to do other things, refine and work on your craft. Never rely on one way of making money because that will frustrate you and make you resent your art and talent. You have to constantly be up to date, be healthy and look it. Take care of your skin and your body. I'm not talking about being thin and wearing makeup all day but if you don't have the energy or the stamina to work you will have problems. Music Besides acting, Rami is also gifted when it comes to music and she has just recently released an album. “My album is called From Fear To Love and I released it under my own recording label Ramsgate Records. It's Jazz with different grooves. I sing in both English and Sepedi. I produced the album with the talented Randal Skippers and I was blessed to work with an amazing group of musicians: Ayo Solanke, Siya Makuzeni, Cameron Ward, Joel Klein, Ramon Sampson, Nokukhanya Dlamini, Mpumie Twala, Michael Philips, Neil Engel and Tlale Makhene. Since I'm an Indie, it has been a challenge to get it in stores so I sell through different agents, from my boot and also it is available on iTunes, Amazon and most of the online stores. For booking and I can be reached on the following, [email protected] on social media Facebook: Rami Chuene And on Twitter and IG @ramichuene. “ www.megaartists.co.za Women are often used by their counterparts, males-and sometimes by themselves as sex symbols in different genres of music. Rami strongly views using sexuality and femininity as empowerment tool in their art as shameful and reduces ones work to nothingness. “It is unfortunate that women musicians have to be close to naked to be “sexy” because sex sells. This is another male dominated section that subjects women into being naked and calling it sexy. I don't see any male artists showing up on stage in their underwear, instead the men are overdressed flanked by naked women. Unfortunately, it's not just in entertainment but a sociostandard accepted by both men and women and it will take some time and some convincing to change that. That can never be further from the truth. There are many examples of timeless, long standing musicians whose music has spanned for decades and they never had to show up half naked. I remember Diana Ross when she received a Lifetime award stated the uncomfortable truth saying being naked distracts and takes away from what you have to offer as an artist. Trust your craft to speak for you.” Aug-Sep 2015 Photo by: Dimitri Nenkov Page 10
