n Sustainability – made in Leipzig Leipzig’ s trade fair company Leipziger Messe GmbH and the Congress Center Leipzig( CCL) are the first large trade fair and convention centre in Germany to be awarded the“ Green Globe” seal of sustainability. The basis for that is a transparent sustainability management system under the brand“ Growing in Balance”. Just recently, the CCL was commended for its“ ICCA Green Traffic Project” initiative with the“ Meeting Experts Green Award” in the Sustainability Event category.
The partners of the Leipzig meeting industry also support this sustainability concept with the aim of making green events possible. The City of Leipzig is a trailblazer for sustainable growth: in 2012, Leipzig was commended with the German Sustainability Prize in the Quality of Life and Urban Structure category. The reasons are: Leipzig is especially good at combining sustainability, growth and quality of life – in urban development, traffic planning and energy efficiency as well as in citizens’ participation or integration. In light of steady population growth, the city has provided long-term development impetus by means of the“ Leipzig Charta for the Sustainable European City”, which has led to a“ new founders’ era” within the territory of the city. www. do-it-at-leipzig. de
