PRINCIPAL DENTAL OFFICER ROLE
The Principal Dental Officer role is normally undertaken by an experienced clinician , who has developed additional management and leadership experience during their military career . The role involves providing administrative support to clinical staff , direct delivery of care and the commission of safe and effective healthcare , which meets the needs of the patient and the chain of command . The position helps to promote the optimum delivery of treatment , ensuring that clinical treatment meet the occupational needs of the military patient , safeguarding against work-based risks within the military environment . This is generally done through Clinical Quality Assurance Audits ( CQAAs ), Healthcare Governance Assurance Audit Visits ( HGAAVs ) and CQC Inspections . Leadership responsibilities promote team work and inclusion within the workforce , to promote improvements in the patient experience . It is associated with the management of human , financial and equipment resources , helping to introduce new evolving treatment options and the development of clinical techniques for our patients .
