DENTAL OFFICER
CONSULTANT ROLE
The Consultant in Restorative Dentistry oversees the provision of bespoke dental rehabilitation for patients , that meets the needs of the individual and the dental fitness status associated with military service . The role involves four main areas of responsibility . The provision of enhanced multi-disciplinary clinical treatment , management of an enhanced specialist clinical network , teaching and training for staff and the development of new ideas and concepts within the workforce . Clinically , the role can be demanding , as patients can have suffered dental problems associated with congenital disordered , trauma and chronic disease . Success is always associated with good communication between the patients and the clinical team , ensuring a fully integrated plan is established , before treatment progresses . This team approach may require joint consultation clinics with other specialists , including medical colleagues , orthodontics specialist or consultant in oral and maxillofacial surgery . It also promotes the establishment of an effective working relationships with all appropriate civilian and military professional bodies .
