The heading of an article is
important: the readers will decide
whether or not to read the article
based on it, so it must be engaging.
Persuasive devices can be used in a
heading, including: alliteration,
puns, humour, rhetorical questions,
allusions, direct address,
superlatives and emotive language.
The tone of the article is also
important: articles are read for
pleasure so entertaining your
readers is vital. Aim for a friendly,
light-hearted tone similar to an
informal letter, unless the topic
demands a more serious, or
even an angry, tone.
A cyclical structure should be
used in articles to create a sense
of closure in the conclusion. An
article that ends with the same
topic /imagery/interview it
began with.
