Our School Community: Belarus Charity Work
Isabella Stefan (6th year) & Ber Carley (SNA) went to Belarus in June 2019 as part of a team to volunteer
at a camp for kids with additional needs.
‘Thank you for all of your support and help in making our trip of 2019 a huge success. Without
your generosity, we would not have been able to travel and coordinate the camp for children with
additional needs.
It was truly amazing, the children were spoiled and we were honored to assist with a week of fun.
The children’s gratitude and smiles were wonderful. Thank you all for helping us to bring lots of
laughter and respite into these families’ lives. Your kindness does not go unnoticed.’

Junior Book Club
MEC Junior Book Club is now open to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students.
Any student who wishes to be involved can come along and join our
enthusiastic book chats. It does not matter what your reading ability level
is and we welcome everyone! Our first discussion took place on the 22nd
of October re: 'Skellig' by David Almond and we had chats and treats.
Other books which the club will discuss this academic year are: 'The
Maze Runner' by James Dashner, 'The Surface Breaks' by Louise
O'Neill and 'Apple and Rain' by Sarah Crossan
Parents, we hope you can encourage your teens to attend book club and
to read the variety of books on our list. Our trending book list also gives
you a good idea of what books are popular for Young Adult readers at
the moment. Junior Book Club reads are also counted as ‘Reading
Passport’ stamps from your English teacher.
