Focus on Nursery One/Nursery Three

by Aviva Yablok, [email protected]

Our three year olds are a busy group. At this point in the year, they have acclimated to the classroom and arrive each day eager to share in the classroom activities. The strong daily routines provide a safe and predictable environment for our young children. They review the calendar each day and sing the days of week, and the months of the year in English and Hebrew aloud. As they move through the year, they will continue to become more and more familiar with this new vocabulary.

They visit classroom centers, share one on one time and group time, with teachers and friends.

Units of study provide learning opportunities for literature, art, math, music and social development to take place. Recently the Nursery Three classes explored Avraham and Sarah’s travel to Eretz Yisrael. How did they travel in those days? Cars? Busses? Camels? Donkeys? How do we travel today? Their bulletin boards reflect the transportation unit they worked on together. Did they have homes like our apartments and houses or did they live in tents? The children and Morot created tents within their rooms for our children to explore. Hands on learning taking place in Nursery One and Three.

As we continue through the year, we will continue to combine math, science, language, art and music with Torah, parsha, holidays and all things Jewish. The funa and learning continue inour Nursery program!
