MDS Messenger Volume 13, Issue 5 | Page 6

Dear MDS Community,

This past Sunday was one of those moments that cannot be described in words. It is an example of why I am privileged to serve as President of Manhattan Day School. Our MDS Community came together in support of beautiful new additions to our Beit Midrash and our school; a magnificent Sefer Torah and a new Aron Kodesh. The feeling of accomplishment as we filled in the last letters of the Sefer Torah, the excitement and pride in parading it outside in its case, the inspirational words and music in the Beit Midrash, and the festive reception were all part of an evening filled with Achdut, Bracha and Simcha.

It was made possible only because our distinguished Honorees stepped forward with David Dweck and Henry Rosenberg and said Hineini, I am here for what is important. I also want to deeply thank Elliot Gibber, our Honorary Chairman of the Board, whose generosity, unwavering commitment to MDS and hard work behind the scenes built our fabulous, new and expanded Aron Kodesh. And many thanks to those of you who partnered with our Honorees to dedicate generous sponsorships in the new Sefer Torah; parents, students, faculty and alumni.

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to sponsor the new Sefer Torah, there are still dedications available at several levels. Please contact Josh Caplan at x801 to find out how you can participate in this great mitzvah.

As important stakeholders in the MDS family, I want to take a moment to make you are aware of a wonderful opportunity to dedicate the entire Beit Midrash. If you are interested in this unique opportunity or know of an individual or family who might be interested in this prestigious dedication, please contact me directly or Josh Caplan, our Director of Development.

Finally, special thanks go to the Event Committee, volunteers, administration and business office staff at MDS coordinated by Josh Caplan, for their attention to so many details to make sure everything was done with Kavod for the Torah and for our Honorees.

On behalf of the students of Manhattan Day School today and in the future,

Hazzak U'Baruch and Todah Rabbah.

May we always share in Smachot!

Sincerely,

Daniel Posner
