people in need. Even when we fought He never left us, like when He decided to let the students in
trouble into His palace. He became a healer; He cured the fragmented land and created beauty and
prosperity. He built us a home, not only to protect us from danger, but also to show us how to build
our own.
Our King has taught us many things, but above all He wished us to love and care for each
other. He told us to ‘be there’ for others, but that we did not have to be there for Him. This is what
made Him seem like a father to us, because He radiated such kindness and good-wil . We could
not say we are as close to Him as we are to our real fathers. But whenever we look for hope and
strength, He would be there just the same.
Even though our King is with us no longer, I believe Thailand will still stand strong. All the King
had ever asked was for us to be united. And if we could do just that, we would find the strength
to go on. Maybe in the future, we shall make the man who was everything to us feel proud. For He
could rest assured that His children would go on in the footsteps He has left behind.
Second Place, M4: Ms Tiratara Satayaraks (Room 1)
Our king, King Bhumibol of Thailand, means so much to me. He has done so much for the
Thai people ever since He ascended the throne in 1946. He has never stopped working to make His
people live happily and sufficiently. But now, although He has passed away, He still lives in the hearts
of all Thai people.
King Bhumibol excelled in all the sciences and in engineering, arts, politics, philosophy and
many other subjects. He visited people in all parts of the country and never failed to reach even the
remotest village of Thailand and to improve people’s lives. He helped them make a better living. The
King initiated many thousands of Royal Projects to develop the country. If we step into each house,
shop or office in Thailand, we would see a picture of the King hanging on the wall. This is because
to us, King Bhumibol is not only the King but also the Father and God, the Bodhisattva who came
from Heaven to help people and returned to His former place after He finished His worldly tasks.
For me, I am so proud to be Thai and that I was born in the reign of King Bhumibol of Thai-
land, the King of Kings. He is the King who never lived happily only in the palace, but travelled to
all parts of the country to help His people. He is the King who worked so hard for 70 years for His
people. He is the King who is not only a king. I love my King.
