Third Place M4: Ms Natalie Tamthai (Room 3)
Our beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej is regarded by all Thai people as ‘Father of the Nation’.
He is different from other kings we have read about from storybooks because He is hard working, self -
less and generous. For seven decades, His devotion for human development was an inspiration for all.
To me, He is the guiding light to all Thais in many aspects. First, how can He live so economically?
Even though He is a King and has lots of money, He still dresses like an ordinary person, uses ordinary
things and lives an ordinary life just like everyone else.
Second, how does His amazing sufficiency economic theory work? He taught us how to live a
happy and an economical life. Many farmers’ lives have been improved according to this theory.
Last, how does He always put His populace before himself? He has invented many machines
and created many Royal Projects to help solve problems and improve people’s lives. He has been
through every inch of Thailand to see His people and listen to their problems in every area. Even when
He was sick, He still cared and was concerned about us until the day He passed away.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej is not just a ‘king’ but He is everything for Thai people. He is the
heart, soul and ‘Father’ of Thailand. I will always remember and remind myself how lucky I am to have
been born in this country where there was the best king in the world.
