earth, to be kind and to help those who are in need.
Like every Thai person, I love and highly respect His Majesty the King. He is like a father who
teaches His children to be good, kind and to love each other. I will continue to follow His footsteps
that wil guide me to a happy an d peaceful life.

What He Means to Me
First Place, M4: Ms Prapimchun Soonthornpanich (Room 5)
In this time of sorrow inflicted by the loss of our great King, I have been asking myself ‘What
does King Bhumibol Adulyadej really mean to me?’ Now I believe I have found some answers. For me,
the King was like a creator, a healer and a father.
King Bhumibol was like the Sun to many. Everything He has touched has turned into great in -
ventions and projects that have improved the well-being of the Thai people. The Royal Projects such as
‘Chang Hua Mun’ [colloquial name given to a Royal Initiative Project on Sustainable Farming Practices]
and ‘Kaem Ling’ [Monkey Cheeks Project] have provided us with jobs and safety. His Majesty was also
an artist, a teacher and many other great things. We can proudly say that we are standing here
successfully today because of Him.
Other than being a creator, our King was also a healer. He was like cool and calm rain to
wash our anger away, and He never hesitated to come and solve problems. His Majesty used to go
deep into the forest, where no one dared go before, to build bridges and roads and weirs for the
